KEGELVEREIN

“Old World Style” Bowler’s Club

Group History:
The Kegelverein was established in April 1962 with a meager capital of $188.50. The members put the first sand lane in place at the Banatar Club. After much hard work two years later a new lane was started. On February 1, 1965 everything was finished and the new building and lane were dedicated. Upon completion of the Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center, they bowled on two lanes using refurbished Brunswick equipment that was modified by the members to handle the smaller balls.  Finally, in 2010 the members had raised enough capital to install state-of-the-art Qubica-AMF machines designed specifically for them.  The lanes are computer controlled with the pins being reset by a string and pulley design.  The machine is similar in design to duck-pin bowling alleys found in New England and Canada.

Bowling Schedule:
The alleys are in use year-round.  There are leagues on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and every other Sunday.  However, during the summer months the teams bowl on Monday and Friday evenings only. All are welcome to join.
