FRAUENGRUPPE

Women’s Group

Group History:
The Frauengruppe was founded in 1959 by Katharina Ritzman. We are a group of women who come together in friendship and camaraderie to maintain and promote the traditions and customs of our homeland.

To maintain our traditions we sing German Folksongs, share stories about our ancestors, report news about upcoming events of our Club. We celebrate Mother’s Day with a luncheon and enjoy a Christmas Party with husbands and guests. Our main fundraiser is our Christmas Cookie sale.

Members join together to bake their favorite German recipes. At this time, our group has about 20 members. We end our meetings with coffee and deserts brought by our members.

Goals and Purpose:

  • To uphold the “Donauschwaben” traditions and customs.

  • Further the German Language.

  • Support the German-American Cultural Center at special functions like “Tag der Donauschwaben”, “Kirchweih”, “Christmas” and more.

Meeting Schedule:
We meet every 3rd Thursday of each month from 1:00 till 3:00 PM, except January and August.

Membership:
Membership is open to all women interested in upholding the goal and purpose of our group.
