in Florida
Mark your calendars !!! This
is the first time we've tried to meet in Florida....come and join the
fun....meet new cousins !!!!!!!!
Saturday, October 7, 2006:
This regional DS meeting will coincide with Sarasota, Florida's,
Oktoberfest. The meeting will last from 9 AM to 4 PM in the Fruitville Road
Library branch which is located 1/4 mile east of I-75 on the south side of
the road at Exit 210. Participants may come and stay as long, or short, as
they wish so they can visit the Oktoberfest !! Two speakers will talk
briefly around 10 AM about resources to be found on the DVHH website and on
heirloom scrapbooking. Volunteers to speak on their specialties or
interests are cordially invited to speak. A roundtable discussion
for all villages will follow these presentations so that all attendees can
participate in and share research and record-keeping tips. Please bring
your maps, Familienbuchs from your villages, and other research materials
for the roundtable discussion. We want to know what villages you are
researching so that we can organize the room by village, if possible. This
will allow cousins to meet cousins !!!!
The
meeting room has a small kitchen with refrigerator so we can have some light
lunch there. How much money do you want to spend on dinner??????
Let us know: we'd like to dine with everyone on Friday and Saturday
nights. There are plenty of churches of every denomination for Sunday.
There is a hotel at Exit 210 west of I-75 called AmericInn and there
are hotels at Exit 213, 3 miles north of the Exit 210 exit:
Marriott-Courtyard and Holiday Inn. MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY !!!!
These are easy on and off locations. The Owens will be camping and if you
plan on doing so, contact Deborah for campground information. For those
flying in, Sarasota has an airport and the Tampa International airport is
about 1 hour 15 minutes north of I-75 Exit 210.
